Genre - Romance, YAΒ

The book follows a dual timeline narrative, alternating between the present day and events that occurred six years earlier. Tate, a young nursing student, moves in with her brother, Corbin and ends up meeting Miles, a pilot and her brother's bestfriend cum neighbor. There is an instant chemistry between them but Miles is emotionally detached and won't allow Tate to get close to him. The reasons behind Miles' lack of emotional availability and his troubled past come to light as the story unfolds.
The readers get to witness the layers of pain and guilt that have shaped him into the closed-off person he has become. Simultaneously, Tate finds herself falling deeply in love with Miles and yearning for a deeper connection.

In "Ugly Love" Colleen Hoover beautifully conveys the complicated feelings of love, loss, and vulnerability. The story delves intoΒ themes of self-discovery, forgiveness, and the curative power of love. Her writing style is captivating and descriptive, engrossing readers in the characters' emotional upheaval.

The novel's character development is one of its strongest aspects. TateΒ is a likeable and approachable character who experiences personal growth. Her undying love for Miles and determination to learn the truth about him makes her a captivating character. Miles, on the other hand, is a complex and damaged hero who evokes both sympathy and frustration from readers. The dual timeline structure adds depth to the narrative, gradually revealing the heart-wrenching events that have shaped Miles. It keeps the readers invested and curious about what happened in the past and how impacts the present.

Ugly Love will make you ugly cry, but it is so worth it. Readers who love books with heroes with wounded hearts, neighbors to lovers stories, slow burn and brother’s best friend romances will definitely love it. Of course, if you’re a fan of CoHo books, this is one not to miss. It has all the feels like It Ends With Us & It Starts With Us and will tug on you like Reminders of Him.
